Not sure why all your furnishings are pressed up against the walls. No one wants to sit in a corner. Bring those lounge chairs out a bit in front of the hearth to aid conversation. The rug you selected seems too small, and your sofa makes such a color statement, I'm not sure why you aren't interested in doubling down on the color with your rug selection.
Anyway here's a few ideas for the room. I wouldn't make a decision about the brick until I fixed the room furnishings and toned down the mantle. The white is like wearing white socks when you wear a brown formal suit. It just doesn't work.
