I just wanted to give you my sympathy. Really, you would think floor installers would know to vary the planks, they are FLOOR INSTALLERS. I recently had this experience with marble bathroom subway tiles - the marble I chose had a lot of variation, from medium-dark gray to almost white. We had a good contractor who said he had excellent subs. Before the shower wall was started I asked the contractor to be sure they would vary the tiles so that there was a good mix of colors and, for instance, 3 gray tiles would not be in a row followed by 3 whitish tiles. He said of course they would and kinda sorta rolled his eyes at my fussiness. When I got home from work the first day I saw that they had not done that and there was a lot of gray all in one place and then a lot of light tiles all in one place. Fortunately they had only done about 6 rows so they were able to replace a few of them so they looked better, and for the remainder I set them all out in rows to demonstrate the mixed-up effect. It gave me an ulcer knowing that I had to hand-hold them because I really thought the mix-it-up thing would be basic to the profession. Ugh. Anyhow, I hope your floor gets resolved. I am hoping since it's so close to an edge they may be able just to lift and replace that little section.
