Landscaping
The grasses in the foreground are Carex oshimensis 'Evergold'...I don't use these as much lately (Pac NW gardens) due to disease issues. Alternates have been introduced to the market. The plants directly behind the grasses are Helleborus × sternii 'Blackthorn Strain'
Silver Sceptre Sedge lines the toe of the walls. Each wall end is accented with Dwarf Hameln Grass, Rotstrahlbusch Switch Grass, and Moudry Fountain Grass. The top of the wall was finished with a Teucrium chamaedrys also know as Wall Germander or False Boxwood. This creates a nice purple flowering hedge that does not obstruct the view of the walls.
This garden is in full bloom! We planted Hydrangea 'Little Lime', Sedge 'Gold Strike' and a variety of boxwoods. They make it a low-maintenance and elegant combo.
Stone spheres, which were previously located throughout the garden, were pulled together into this vignette to introduce the illusion of movement to a static garden space. Ball-pruned boxwoods were inserted into the cobblestones to repeat the shape of the spheres. Additionally, blooming hydrangeas reinforce the shape. In the background, 'Evergold' carex provides a textural background to the vignette.
