My husband and I hired Mark Domiteaux and Douglas Payne of Domiteaux + Baggett Architects, and they designed us the world's coolest house (it's called the Now Haus and can be seen on their website).
The process of designing the Now Haus with Mark and Doug was so fun, so collaborative, so successful.
To say that Mark is brilliant, is an understatement. To say that Doug was a fabulous design guide, keeping us safely away from anything that would destroy the integrity of the very minimalist esthetic we desired, is also an understatement.
Now, 4 years after the design was done, and 3 years after the house was built, I still miss the deeply satisfying creative relationship I had with Mark and Doug,
People told me, before we began the design process, that I would eventually come to hate my architects. Boy were they WRONG !

“We chose Eric to design a 430 sq foot game room, with walk-in 'pantry, built-ins etc in 2010. The kitchen wall was knocked down so the game-room and kitchen are open with a granite bar between them. Great work. He went from color pencil concept sketches, thru approval drawings and finals. The end result is very open and light, with a very large custom skylight providing natural light to the pool table by day. My wife loves the walk-in pnatry. Very personable and smart fellow. Not too expensive.”

“While Jesse is incredibly creative, he also has a great deal of knowledge relating to architecture and a great care for detail. We own a mid-century modern house in Kessler Park and needed to remodel about half the house, but with some severe limitations imposed by the existing architectural style and current footprint of the house. The job turned out flawlessly. Jesse was able to incorporate many of the necessary structural and mechanical upgrades to the underlying bones of the house (we finally have some energy and mechanical efficiencies) while choosing finish after finish that continued and complemented the existing architectural style of the house. This isn't just my personal opinion, our house was selected for the Preservation Dallas House tour shortly after the remodel to show off the house and Jesse's design. We're planning to add a stand-alone studio in the back yard if/when the current building boom slows and we'll definitely be using Jesse if he has availability. As anyone who has fought through a building / construction project of any kind knows, it is very difficult to find people you can count on. To find someone who can take your initial jumbled thoughts, tell you what you actually want (which you didn't really understand initially) and then also put together the detailed plan and see it through down to the details is a valuable, valuable aid. I can't recommend him highly enough.”
