It's been around for hundred of years, You can set it on fire, ( kidding ) but no amount of heat will kill it. Anti microbial too. Dings. scratches sand right out. It is a rock, literally, it technically is not a stone. A great look alike? "American Soapstone" . A granite. Don't mix two veined materials, and don't mix a real marble counter with ANY faux marble counter. Just forget that idea....asap. And busy tops look a bit dated, but you sound like quartz.............is not for you. You COULD like Taj Mahal quartzite with very reasonable care. Take your designer STONE shopping. I would also not go very soft white, off/white without very careful consideration of your entire palette in your home. And all the other TRIM. Taj in the kitchen photos

Antwort auf: I'm in the final stages of completing my kitchen (still have to pick a tile splash and do some trim molding on the doorway, coffee bar area) and chose Calacatta marble (zero care. It's factory applied in italy) for the island. and that zero care really does work. it's amazing. nothing stains or etches. Antolini is the maker. Or, look around for some others you may like. Have you seen what they're doing w/porcelain slabs now? I honestly thought this was real stone they have dozens and dozens of styles. Bianco Avion Marble or, if you find the right Taj, one w/more grays, it could work Sea Pearl is another quartzite that holds up very well
