Loving the pillars? supporting the corners of the granite! - get a peninsula size piece of granite and set it on top of cabinet that we built from the floor up and attach pillars on all size to support ends of granite - Love it! Remember - Lots of storage space - maybe build that cabinet as big as the peninsula to maximize storage - but maybe the pillars on the ends will look really pretty - but all will need to be stained the same color as the kitchen cabinets - but really liking the white - maybe I should have the cabinets painted white.

I like the idea of an island with seats all around. Use the same granite and make the island all storage - can't have enough storage.
