“I bought my hot tub last summer because I haven't been able to swim since the pandemic, and one of my favorite parts of swimming was using the hot tub at the gym before and after. Since it didn't look like gyms or pools were going to open anytime soon, I decided that it would be nice to have one for the winter. I was ambivalent about the cost (I had to have an electrical upgrade, and a brick area put in to accommodate it), and it took about a month for me to get the chemical maintenance right. But I love having it now! On these cold, snowy days it's such a treat to hop in at the end of the day - and I'm warm and relaxed the rest of the evening. The online videos are very helpful in dealing with the maintenance (changing filters, etc.) and everything so far is quite simple. I can't say what the impact has been on my electric bill since I'm on a budget plan, but people tell me about $30/40 per month, and their tubs are larger than mine (I have a 250 gallon, which holds two people with plenty of extra space). I typically don't do anything costly - no fancy vacations or expensive cars and clothes, because it's not worth it to me. But this is one luxury that was worth it.”
